June So Far

After we returned from Pennsylvania, we got to work on the house. We tackled some major organization projects, went furniture shopping and worked on projects (like refinishing a table, making shelves and crafting curtains). The house feels like it’s really taking shape and we’re loving it!

TableWe snagged this gorgeous table at Mike’s grandparents’ house (though it was actually purchased by his dad on Cape Cod back in the ’70s). After a little TLC, it’s looking amazing and ¬†was recently installed in our dining room!

Garden TourThe Somerville Garden Tour was on June 9 (happy birthday dad!) and we had an awesome time walking all over the city, seeing beautiful yards and meeting so many fellow residents. You can see more photos from the tour here.

Spoke Burrata

We finally tried Spoke Wine Bar, a new establishment in Davis Square, and loved it! I have a full write-up coming on the Beat next week. But for now, you can drool over that creamy, dreamy burrata.SinclairWe also finally made it to The Sinclair in Harvard Square with our friends John and Amanda. They’re getting married this fall and it was so fun to hear about their plans. Can’t wait to celebrate the big day with them!

BeachWe’ve had a lot of rainy, cool weather here, so when it was predicted to be sunny and near 80-degrees on Saturday we leapt at the chance to head to the beach. We met up with some friends and enjoyed a lovely afternoon of lounging on Crane Beach (our first time there and it was awesome). Already dreaming of the next beach day …

Beach EMWe were pretty excited … and pale!

PizzaWhen we got home from the beach we made amazing grilled pizzas (grilled veggies, mozzarella cheese, Mike’s homemade pizza dough and balsamic glaze). They.were.incredible.

RainbowWe are big Bruins fans, so when a gorgeous double rainbow appeared before Monday’s game, we knew it was a good sign. And it was–the B’s won and shut out the Blackhawks. Can’t wait for game four tonight!

Race BibLooking ahead to this weekend, we’re attending an ’80s-themed prom on Friday night (I’m one of the organizers as a member of the Somerville Local First board) and then the Boston Athletic Association’s 10K is on Sunday. I’m really excited for the race and really eager for what comes next … marathon training. That’s right, I’m doing another one this fall … details to come!
