I feel like I always say this, but I can’t believe how fast the summer is going! How is it mid-July already? We’ve been having a great time, so without further ado, here’s what we’ve been up to …
I took a Salvadoran cooking class that was educational, fun and delicious. The fried plantains with custard were one of my favorite parts. We also took a trip up to my parents’ house on Lake Winnipesaukee to celebrate the Fourth of July. The weather was perfect.
A week later some college friends were in town, so we had the whole group over to our place to have dinner and hang out. Everyone loved the new digs and the menu was a hit too (grilled shrimp, chicken and steak, caprese skewers, tossed salad and blueberry corn salad … plus blueberry crisp for dessert)! I arranged these pretty flowers on our table using one of Mike’s grandma’s antique napkins.
Later in the day I really refueled by downing a good portion of this gigantic and amazingly delicious pretzel at a new restaurant in Somerville. Full review up on the Beat next week!
Mike’s dad Marshall (AKA Walrus) was in town on Monday for a doctor’s appointment (just a follow-up from shoulder surgery a few months ago), so we got to spend some time together. On a walk around the neighborhood we realized that Mike and his dad were wearing essentially the same outfit.
How’s your summer going so far?
