June into July

I feel like I always say this, but I can’t believe how fast the summer is going! How is it mid-July already? We’ve been having a great time, so without further ado, here’s what we’ve been up to …

ShelvesWe’ve been doing so much around the house, including installing some shelves that Mike built for the office! I absolutely love them and can’t wait to see how they evolve over time.

IMG_7771I took a Salvadoran cooking class that was educational, fun and delicious. The fried plantains with custard were one of my favorite parts.IMG_3282We also took a trip up to my parents’ house on Lake Winnipesaukee to celebrate the Fourth of ┬áJuly. The weather was perfect.

IMG_3285We ate lots of good food, per usual. Pictured above is kale salad, grilled vegetable orzo salad and an Asian-style salad. Yum!

IMG_3298Mike took Thunder out for a spin while we were at the lake.

IMG_3302And we took the whole gang out on the boat for a ride one morning. It was so fun to spend a few days together relaxing!

IMG_3310We popped into the Town Docks one night to get lobster rolls and summery drinks. This watermelon bowl was declared delicious.

IMG_3311We were even treated to a Mount Washington sighting while we were eating.

IMG_3320And a gorgeous lake sunset.

IMG_3325The whole crew … in almost the same spot we took almost the same photo a few years ago. Love these guys!

FlowersA week later some college friends were in town, so we had the whole group over to our place to have dinner and hang out. Everyone loved the new digs and the menu was a hit too (grilled shrimp, chicken and steak, caprese skewers, tossed salad and blueberry corn salad … plus blueberry crisp for dessert)! I arranged these pretty flowers on our table using one of Mike’s grandma’s antique napkins.

14 milesLater that weekend I went for a 14-mile run as part of my marathon training plan. It was a beautiful, if hot and humid, morning and I snapped this photo when I stopped to refuel.

Bronwyn pretzelLater in the day I really refueled by downing a good portion of this gigantic and amazingly delicious pretzel at a new restaurant in Somerville. Full review up on the Beat next week!

Mike and MarshallMike’s dad Marshall (AKA Walrus) was in town on Monday for a doctor’s appointment (just a follow-up from shoulder surgery a few months ago), so we got to spend some time together. On a walk around the neighborhood we realized that Mike and his dad were wearing essentially the same outfit.

The apple and the treeYou know what they say about apples and tress and all that.

How’s your summer going so far?
