Festive Fun

What a busy and fun month December has been so far! We’ve attended holiday parties, had our first taste of winter with several inches of snow and spent some cozy nights in enjoying our first holiday season in our home.

Christmas cactusMy mom gave me this Christmas cactus when it broke off of hers (Michael has one too) and it has only bloomed one other time (one flower!). It must love our new house because it is blooming beautifully right now and looks absolutely gorgeous!

December sunsetMy office is on the third floor of our house and as Somerville is a city with many hills, I have a killer view, especially this time of year when the trees are bare. That’s allowed me to see some breathtaking sunsets, which almost makes up for how early the sun is setting right now.

TwinsiesOur friends Eric and Elaina had a super fun holiday party earlier this month and apparently it was plaid night. Twinsies!

FriendsThe boys (Eric didn’t get the plaid memo).

PiperIt’s difficult to determine who’s crazier in this photo, but it’s clear that Piper wins the cuteness award with her sweet santa suit.

Upstatement holiday partyThe very next night was the Upstatement holiday dinner at Eastern Standard in Boston. There were almost 20 of us this year and we sat in the restaurant’s beautiful private room to enjoy a delicious meal. I couldn’t be prouder or these guys and what they’ve accomplished!

E&M Holiday PartyWe clean up pretty nice!

PJsI did some Christmas shopping with Muzzy and she was nice enough to get me a new pair of cozy PJ pants, which I promptly put on when I got home. Between those and my new slippers, what more does a girl need this time of year?

SnowWhile winter doesn’t officially start until Saturday, we got our first taste last weekend when Mother Nature dumped several inches of snow on us. It was our first storm in the new house, which was fun … and interesting!

SnowblowerWe could not be more grateful to my parents for gifting their extra snowblower (don’t judge, they live in the woods in New Hampshire). We’ve put it to good use twice already!

Winter bikerMike didn’t let the snow get him down–he rode his bike to and from work despite the crazy weather!

Public GardenAnd yesterday I was able to sneak away for a few hours to see a dear friend who’s in town visiting this week. We strolled down Newbury Street, got lunch out and just enjoyed the city all decked out for the holidays. It was magical!
