This is a big week in our house. It’s our three-year wedding anniversary tomorrow and Mike turns 30 next Tuesday. We have so many fun celebrations planned and already kicked things off last weekend with a visit to Mike’s mom and step-dad’s house in upstate New York.
On Saturday morning I went for my weekly long run around the neighborhood and the rest of the crew went golfing at the Edison Country Club, where Beth and Billy are members. I met them for lunch on the patio after spending the morning sipping coffee and catching up on some reading. It was so relaxing!
After lunch Mike and I went for a nice long walk along the Mohawk River. And after resting up a bit, we all got dressed for dinner at a local Italian restaurant. We had a little trouble with the service at first, but eventually it was straightened out and we had a very nice meal.
We’ve been together for nine years and this has been on our list of things to do pretty much since the beginning. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect summer day to enjoy the track and had so much fun learning about the horses and placing some small bets.
We didn’t win big (hence why we both went back to work on Monday ;-), but we won a bit and more importantly, had so much fun. After a few hours we decided to head home and after battling some epic traffic, made it in time to enjoy our favorite meals from Life Alive for dinner.
The weekend away was just what we needed to unwind and relax after a hectic summer. And we plan to keep the fun going with more anniversary and birthday celebrations this week and next!
Updated 9/5/14: I stumbled across these gems while getting some photos from Mike. Yes, Arthur is enormous … and mostly friendly!
