What a busy and fun few weeks we’ve had! From a long weekend in Montreal and a bachelorette party in Newport to a golf tournament and sushi making class, we’ve packed a lot in to the end of July and beginning of August. And since I have many photos to share, let’s get to it.
Our trip to Montreal was wonderful. We ate great food, saw the sights and generally relaxed and unplugged. For all the details, you can read the post I wrote on the Beat.
The scene from an early morning run.
I’m still thinking about this incredible quinoa salad with so many unique toppings, like radishes, black beans and mint and coriander pesto.
The Lachine Canal provided the backdrop for a fun day of biking, kayaking and picnicking.
I loved seeing the St. Lawrence River, which I grew up on as a kid, again. Such a majestic and might body of water.
Mike took down the Super Beauty’s 2 (two eggs, two pancakes, two sausages, two strips of bacon, a bagel and potatoes) one rainy Sunday morning.
Vegetarian poutine. YUM!
Another big breakfast for Mike–Montreal bagel topped with salmon, cream cheese, red onion and capers plus crab salad and a perfect hard-boiled egg.
Bravely snapping a photo of our kayaking adventure!
More action shots–this time during an evening bike ride.
One of the restaurants we ate at had little drawers in the tables filled with notes and other random bits left by previous diners. And we left a little note of our own.
Upon returning to Somerville, we took a sushi making class with an awesome chef I know that allowed us to use the generous Kitchensurfing credit a dear friend gave us as a housewarming present. It was such a fun date night!
We then spent a very rainy and un-summer-like weekend at home. The nice part was getting to see Walrus (Mike’s dad) and his wife Susie for dinner. It was so fun to show them all the work we did on the backyard.
Then it was off to Newport to celebrate Meg’s (middle) bachelorette party. I was lucky enough to get to spend extra time with my girl Carly, who is pregnant(!), in the days leading up to the weekend.
I’d been to Newport before, but not in a really long time. It was so fun to go back and made me want to plan a weekend there with Mike sometime soon.
I had some great early morning runs and we spent a glorious day at the beach. Mike played in a golf tournament while I was away and came in third in his handicap group! He’s been working so hard at improving his game this summer and I’m really proud of the work he’s put in.
The weather could not have been more perfect. I hope summer never ends. But since it will, I’m determined to soak up every last bit in the next few weeks!
