Mike and I both absolutely love the holidays, so we do a lot of decorating this time of year. We really enjoy being at home and strive to make ours a sanctuary from the crazy world outside the door. Here’s what it looks like right now …Our cute little tree and fireplace all festive for Christmas.OK, so this isn’t a decoration, but it’s a really delicious meal that’s perfect for a cold, wintry evening. I’ve been making this Ratatouille and Sausage Potpie with Cornmeal Biscuits from the New York Times for years and it’s a total crowd-pleaser. (I make it vegetarian by using fake sausage.)Here’s one corner of our dining room decorated for the holidays. Mike’s mom brought us the book recently and I love the tree advent calendar and star that I picked up from Target last year. And here’s another wall in the dining room. I love the way the decanters and my maple syrup award look with the lights glowing through them.Colder weather also means it’s time for the Somerville Winter Farmers Market. We love the local farmers markets and were so excited to see many favorite vendors return this year and some new faces as well.We braved the rain on Saturday night to go to Harvard Square for dinner at the delicious Cafe Sushi. Mike cozied up to some warm sake and we had a seriously amazing dinner. This place doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it might just be the best sushi I’ve ever had.We also took in the latest play at the American Repertory Theater. This one, O.P.C. by Eve Ensler, was the first one that we’ve seen there that didn’t wow us. It was OK, but not as good as the others we’ve loved so much.We had a really fun night anyway and are looking forward to many more in the coming weeks with all of the holiday parties and events we’ve got on the calendar!
